BBC Türkçe examined the powers introduced by Türkiye’s Cybersecurity Law and its possible consequences for oversight, access to data and online content.
The article cited İFÖD’s warning that the framework lacked adequate legal safeguards and could create arbitrary practices and a system that could not be effectively scrutinised. It also highlighted the freedom of expression and press freedom risks arising from vaguely defined oversight bodies and the broad use of the term “content”.
