The “Kafkaesque Censorship in a Digital Cage” program was held online

The Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD) organized an online program titled “Kafkaesque Censorship in a Digital Cage: The Past, Present, and Future of the Internet in Türkiye” on November 3–4, 2025, targeting young legal professionals (young lawyers, interns, law students).

The program was executed online via Zoom as an integral component of İFÖD’s EngelliWeb project, which has long focused on combating internet censorship and advocating for digital rights. Its dual purpose was to enhance public awareness and to provide young lawyers, students, and staff from civil society and media with the necessary knowledge and skills on digital rights and the future of expression freedom in Türkiye.

In line with this, the program addressed the following topics:

  • The History of Internet Censorship in Türkiye with Statistics and Examples
  • Internet Censorship in Türkiye in the Context of Freedom of Expression
