The Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD) has published its report entitled The Secret Weapon of Censorship: Procedural Violations in Freedom of Expression Cases, which examines the systematic procedural violations arising in judicial proceedings in freedom of expression cases.
The study titled Digital Obedience Regime: Social Media Platforms and the Illusion of Transparency in Türkiye, which focuses on the role of social media platforms within Türkiye’s intensifying censorship climate, has been published.
The online capacity development program entitled “Kafkaesque Censorship in a Digital Cage: The Past, Present, and Future of the Internet in Türkiye” was conducted for young legal professionals (young lawyers, interns, law students) on November 3-4, 2025.
The capacity development programs entitled “Standards and Procedural Obligations in Freedom of Expression Related Cases” were held in Istanbul (October 11–12) and Adana (October 25–26), bringing together legal professionals, students, and staff from civil society and media organizations involved in litigation.
In a joint open letter, the Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD), Human Rights Watch and ARTICLE 19 called on social media companies to resist government censorship in Türkiye and to uphold freedom of expression in line with international human rights law.
The capacity development program “Freedom of Expression Under the Grip of Censorship: The Past, Present, and Future of the Internet in Türkiye” took place on 21 December 2024 with the participation of young lawyers (young lawyers, interns, law students).
